Italian fashion house Gucci has appointed flame-haired British powerhouse Florence Welch as the face of its forthcoming Fall/Winter campaign.
The 24-year-old frontwoman of pop’s Florence & The Machine has been inspiring esteemed designers with Mulberry, Versace, and Chanel since she burst onto the scene with a crop of crimson locks and a microphone in 20110. Florence’s status as a budding fashion icon makes her the ideal candidate to front the ads for Gucci’s latest collection, the label’s creative director, Frida Giannini, tells DazedDigital.com.
“As I was imagining this collection I was thinking of a strong and somewhat mysterious muse. Florence is that kind of woman. I met her in Los Angeles at this year’s Grammys and was captivated by her presence. She has a powerful personality and an entrancing quality to her performances. She also has that confident and self assured look that goes hand in hand with the Gucci woman.”
