
Katherine Heigl was born in Connecticut on November 24, 1978. She grew up there, with her two older brothers and older sister. The natural blonde got her start as a child model is Sears catelogs. She then moved to commercial work, which eventually opened doors for film roles.
She debuted in acting in the movie That Night (1992) and also appeared in the drama King of the Hill before her first leading role in the comedy My Father the Hero (1994). At that time she still attended New Canaan High School, finding a balance between her acting and modeling career and her academic studies. Eventually she dropped out of high school for a career in Hollywood.
In 1998, she co-starred with Peter Fonda in a re-working of the classic Shakespearian play The Tempest, set during the American Civil War. Later that year, she starred in the horror film Bride of Chucky.
In 2005, she was cast in the role of Dr. Isobel Stevens in the hit drama, Grey’s Anatomy on ABC. She has gained notice for this role as the show has become a huge success. Her newest success is the role of Alison Scott in the motion picture comedy, Knocked Up.
Heigl was previously in a relationship with actor Jason Behr. In June 2006, she became engaged to singer Josh Kelley, whom she met on the set of his music video for “Only You.” In June 2007, she announced that a wedding date had been set and that the couple would marry in October 2007. The ceremony date was later pushed back to December 23, 2007.
