Christina Aguilera “The Voice” Vocal Coach

When God snaps shut a booze bottle, he opens a gig on reality TV. Just ask Christina Aguilera!

The five-time Grammy Award winner has been named the vocal coach on NBC’s new American Idol-esque musical competition series, The Voice, joining rap star Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine of Maroon 5.

An arrangement curiously announced a little more than 24 hours after Xtina was plopped in a drug tank in Los Angeles County Jail after she and her speed demon beau was pinched intoxicated and blowing through the streets of the City of Angels.

Here’s what Aguilera had to say about the chance of becoming TV’s new Paula Abdul (Guess we know what’s in her red cup of Coke!)

“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.mI am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to The Voice.”

The latest addition to NBC’s primetime network is inspired by the Dutch talent show The Voice of Holland. Half American Idol, half X Factor, The Voice will feature a panel of three entertainers — who’ll serve as “celebrity coaches,” who can claim contestants they like as students, mentor them, and then pit their teams against one another. The coaches will hear contestants audition with their backs turned, so they will be judged strictly on the quality of their voices. The grand prize winner will receive a grand prize of a recording contract and $100,000.

Survivor producer Mark Burnett, who also takes production credits on The Voice, couldn’t be more ecstatic to have the 30-year-old powerhouse on board. Burnett, Talpa Productions, and Warner Horizon Television say Christina was his first choice for female coaches.

“When I decided to produce ‘The Voice,’ I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera. Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of ‘The Voice.’”
