Javier Bardem has signed on to play Roland Deschain, the gun slinging protagonist of author Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ series, on both the big and the small screen.The 42-year-old Spanish actor has signed on the dotted line to star in the eagerly awaited Ron Howard and Brian Grazer adaptation of King’s beloved seven-novel saga, reported New York Post online.”Bardem has signed on to the first movie and the miniseries, but the intention is that he will star in all the movies and each of the TV series. It’s an enormous deal for any actor, but Bardem was always the first choice,” said a source.The story follows ‘Gunslinger’ Deschain as he travels through an Old West-like landscape in search of the mythical Dark Tower and other actors who were in the fray for the role were Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig.The first movie is expected to go into production in September with Howard directing.
