Madhuri Dixit Anarkali Grace at 'Emeralds for Elephants' Jewelry Launch

Madhuri Dixit looked resplendent in a black and gold floral anarkali suit at the launch of Gemfields' 'Emeralds for Elephants' jewelery at Hotel Taj Palace in South Mumbai on Wednesday, 20 July, 2011.

Madhuri's short sleeve ankle length suite had a surplice bodice, banded empire waist and a full skirt. She paired it with ivory churidar and golden tissue dupatta.

She accessorized with glittery heels and exquisite diamond and emerald jewelry.

Her reddish brown side parted hair was styled in bottom curls. Sparkling golden eyeshadow and shimmering bronze lipstick rounded her dazzling looks.

The 44-year-old Bollyood star is brand ambassador for Gemfields International, Zambia's leading emerald mining company.

Gemfields have introduced 'Emeralds for Elephants' in India as part of an awareness campaign to raise funds to protect the elephant habitat in India.

Gemfields has selected ten jewelers across the country to create jewels using ethically mined emeralds from Zambia. The designs are inspired by the elephants and the corridors the mammals roam.

The 10 design firms are: Abaran Jewelers of Bangalore, Gem Palace of Jaipur, Khanna Jewellers of Delhi, Meena Jewelers of Hyderabad, Narayan Jewelers of Baroda, Sawansukha Jewelers of Kolkata, Talwarsons Jewelers of Chandigarh, Vummidi Bangaru Jewelrs of Chennai, and Anmol Jewelers and Nirav Modi of Mumbai.

The headlining piece from the collection will be a Ganesha sculpture called Emerald Avighna, with a 638-carat Gemfields Zambian emerald created by well known sculptor, Arzan Khambatta.

The collection will be auctioned by Sotheby's in October 14 at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. Part of the proceeds from sale of jewels will be used to fund the World Land Trust's 'Indian Elephant Corridor' project.

The India campaign is followed by a highly successful 'Emeralds for Elephants' fund raiser organized by Gemfields at Selfridges in London in June 2010.
