First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Katie with a baby carriage. Er, sorta.
Kate Hudson’s baby may come before the Something Borrowed star actually makes a second trip down the aisle, but that hasn’t stopped the pleasingly-plump and expecting actress from getting all guised up in anticipation of her pending nups to Muse rocker Matthew Bellamy. Kate, 32, flashed an impressive 9-carat bauble on The TODAY Show Wednesday, where she confirmed her engagement to a beaming Matt Lauer.
“I’m engaged!” Hudson confessed to Lauer. “It just happened a week ago. I’m so glad you noticed. I haven’t really announced it and I kind of feel like the announcing thing feels so silly, you know what I mean? I was just waiting for somebody to notice. I haven’t really announced it, I was waiting for someone to notice [the ring],” she explained.
The British-born Bellamy, who has been dating Kate for around a year, reportedly popped the question to the ready-to-pop starlet in a proposal in The Big Apple last week. As for how Matt “pulled the trigger,” the blonde beauty kept the details private, saying only: “It was very sweet, it was very sweet. It was very romantic.”
“He’s a beautiful man and I’m excited, but I think we’re just going to fit into the baby thing for a little bit,” Kate continued, adding the pair are still hashing out details on a wedding date.
In January, Hudson denied she was engaged to Bellamy, following reports that the actress hosted an engagement party for family at a London hotel.
“I don’t like putting that sort of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessary to get married,” she said at the time.
It will be the second marriage for Hudson. She was previously wed to Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson, the father of her 7-year-old son, Ryder.
The Almost Famous actress also gave an update on her pregnancy during the interview.
“It’s been great. The first few months were rough, and then it was great, and now I’m starting to get heavier and slower, but I love being pregnant. I think it’s a girl and I’m carrying so different than with Ryder and it is really fun not to know….She’s so nuts in here. It’s got the Hawn gene. It’s got my mum’s (Goldie Hawn’s) lineage for sure. It’s dancing every day.”
