Chord Overstreet will have as many episodes in the 3rd season of Glee as other actors if he accepts to return to the show.
Show's creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy says they have already written stories on Chord's character Sam Evans.
"Yes, we have. That was always our intent," Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter.
As to how many episodes Chord will be in?
"As many as the other kids; the thing I've told Chord is to look at someone like Harry Shum Jr. – it took him two years to become a series regular and that sometimes is just the way that it works. You have to be on it for a year then you get more stories. That's a very similar trajectory for Chord, who is also a year younger than all the other kids, so there's great opportunity for him for growth," says Murphy.
On July 1, 2011, Murphy had announced that the show will not pick up Overstreet's contract option as a series regular. However it was also announced that Overstreet's character may, on occasion, return to the show.
Later on July 7 it was announced that the show's writers want Chord back. Chord and his rep were informed "that he is welcome back to Glee, and everyone hopes he will show up on August 10 when filming begins," an insider told TVLine.
Murphy says he has not met Chord as he was away from LA, but has been keeping in touch with him over emails. The two are expected to meet sometime later this week to discuss what Glee has to offer to the 22-year-old.
Chord returned to LA tonight after playing for Taco Bell Legends & Celebrity Softball game in Phoenix.
"back in la and loving it!!!!" Chord tweeted late night, July 13.
