
Deepika, 25, makes a special appearance in the film for its defining item number, a remix of the hit song "Dum Maro Dum" from Dev Anand's Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) that was lip synched on screen by a completely zoned out Zeenat Aman.
The Rohan Sippy helmed film headlining Abhishek Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut revolves around Goa's drug mafia. Deepika had developed cold feet just before filming she had found song's lyrics too bold for comfort. She managed to get the director to make changes. The song was choreographed in such a manner that Deepika was not seen mouthing the objectionable lyrics. In the song, she is seen wearing a bikini top sized white top and a barely there skirt revealing her long taut torso with a Dum Maro Dum tattoo. Deepika has never been seen in such a bold makeover before, or performing such provocative dance moves. Even though she makes a cameo appearance in the film she features prominently in its promotional campaign. Dum Maro Dum is due in theaters on April 22. It additionally stars Aditya Pancholi, Bipasha Basu, Prateik Babbar and Rana Daggubati, with a cameo by Vidya Balan.
