Sonakshi Sinha has reportedly signed on for a psychological thriller inspired by Hannibal (2001) opposite Kamal Haasan.
The film is being directed by Selvaraghavan.
After pairing up with stars in their mid forties - Salman Khan, 45, in Dabangg and Akshay Kumar, 43, in the currently under production Joker - Sonakshi is now raising the age bar for her male leads, working with 56-year-old talent power house Kamal Haasan.
The yet to be titled trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) film will begin a start-to-end production schedule in mid March, after Sonakshi completes the currently underway Chandigarh schedule of Shirish Kunder's Joker.
Sonakshi will not be Haasan's love interest in the film. His role is of a serial killer, a la Anthony Hopkins in Hannibal. She will instead essay Julliane Moore's role as FBI Special Agent.
Hannibal, an adaptation of Thomas Harris' novel of the same name, was the third film in the thriller series; Hannibal Lecter's character first appeared in Manhunter (1986) and then The Silence of the Lambs (1991). Hannibal's plot is set ten years after The Silence of the Lambs.
