Kardashian’s clothing empire at risk

Fashionistas Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian’s line with Bebe stores has ended for now – hot on the heels of their Dash boutique being slammed by The New York Times. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians stars may be losing their rule in the fashion world as their Bebe line comes to a close. An official statement for Bebe read: “We are very pleased with the performance of the ‘Kardashians for Bebe’ apparel collection and have immensely enjoyed our design collaboration with Kim, Khloe and Kourtney. They are terrific brand ambassadors and resonate really well with our clients. “Our original ready to wear agreement with the Kardashians began last February and will conclude with the upcoming Resort Delivery.” The announcement comes as Bebe president Emilia Fabricant revealed he was reconsidering their partnership. And yesterday the New York Times Critical Shopper column described the sisters’ New York Dash clothing store as a fashion ‘don’t’. Times writer Jon Caramanica wrote: “Dash is a fashion desert, just oodles of drippy cowl necks and embellished cap sleeves and synthetic fibres. “Clothes are essentially split into two categories of fit: vacuum-sealed and hot-air balloon.” He also described the ‘overpriced’ clothes as questionable at best.
