Stick a fork in ‘em! Bajan pop queen Rihanna has reportedly called it quits with beau of less than a year, Matt Kemp.
“It happened over the last few weeks,” a source close to the “Rude Boy” singer told Us Weekly Tuesday. “She basically was just over it.”
Kemp, an outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was the first man Rihanna dated seriously after splitting from ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009.
Rumors of a relationship between Kemp, 26, and Rihanna, 22, first began when the pair were spotted together last November. They went public with their romance in the spring, but “it was never as serious as it looked,” says a pal. “It was always just [about] having fun.”
Us’ loose-lipped informant claims Kemp couldn’t keep up with Rihanna’s extensive travel schedule and “wants something more normal.” Star Magazine, on the other hand, blames Ri-Ri’s lingering feelings for ex-flame Drake (Yep, we’re talking about “Best I Ever Had,” “Fancy,” Degrassi: The Next Generation Drake, for those not in-the-know…) for ruining the singer’s union with Matt.
Rihanna dumped Drake — who recently collaborated with the islander on her hit single “What’s My Name?” — after a brief courtship in March 2009.
A Star snoop says: “For the past month, Rihanna has been spending more and more time with Drake and has been slowly falling for him. They had a brief relationship right after her breakup with Chris Brown, but she was too traumatized by the whole situation to take him seriously…She does really care about Matt, but she just isn’t sure what she wants.”
