Glee star Matthew Morrison shares his thoughts on being considered a sex symbol, dating, and coping with the fame affiliated with a starring role on one of television’s most-celebrated series. While the photoshoot was originally supposed to be humorous, once the Details creative team saw Matt’s abs they couldn’t resist going for a steamy shoot.

Matt On Sex Appeal: “I’m not comfortable with the idea of my sex appeal, but I know in my job I have to use it. I wish I could say I got to this point in my career based on my talent, but I don’t think that’s true,” says the 32-year-old actor, who plays musical mentor Will Schuester on the hit FOX show.

On His Playboy Days On The Great White Way: “There was so much opportunity,” Matthew got his start playing Link Larkin in Broadway’s Hairspray in 2002. “There were all these beautiful, beautiful dancers. As a straight guy I had some room. There were the shared interests in singing and dancing, and I always find dancing with someone very evocative and sexual,” adds the star, who says he didn’t lose his virginity until well past his 21st birthday.

“I definitely hooked up with a lot of girls when I was a young guy on Broadway It was exciting. Very joyous and free.”

On His Glee Colleagues: “Yeah, I find myself learning a lot from the set. I do look at stuff people on the show are doing, and I don’t judge them, but I question it. I say to myself, ‘Keep quiet.’ Fame, you know, it’s like a handgun – in the wrong hands, it’s dangerous.”

Is He Dating Anyone? “It’s been a while. Meeting people, you wonder, ‘What does this person see in me?’ I’m not a good friend right now. I’m not a good boyfriend,” he added. “It’s not that I’m selfish — I’m just focused.”

Matthew is working on a side project – a solo album
due to be released in February. He describes it as “Buble-esque.”
