Kate Middleton - Burberry Beautiful in Belfast

Kate Middleton's subdued, but superb styling during her visit to Belfast on Shrove Tuesday made a powerful statement - commoners can easily blend amidst royals, with just good styling tastes.

Kate's sedate, but standout sartorial choices are likely to endear her to the British public. She is increasingly coming through, not as a commoner who luckily stumbled into royalty, but as a rep of the commoners who will comfortably stand with the royals.

Kate's fashion statements rock no boats, just gladdens hearts.

On Tuesday, Kate opted for a classic trench coat from Burberry, with twin button-columns, a buckled belt, and a mildly flared hemline. She accessorized with a black clutch, black pumps and black tights.

The 29-year-old's preference for British designers during her recent public appearances with Prince William should go down well with the British people.

On her first public engagement with the Prince in Anglesey in Wales, Kate wore a tailored Shetland herringbone coat by Katherine Hooker London with a beret by Wiltshire-based Vivien Sheriff Millinery.

In Belfast, the couple met with well-wishers outside City Hall. They spontaneously celebrated Shrove Tuesday with the crowds by tossing a pancake with children who were taking part in the activity to raise money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund.

The Prince tried his hand first and then passed the frying pan to Kate and urged her to try, which she did, to the delight of onlookers.

Their visit included other official and private engagements.
