Sales of Salvia have reportedly skyrocketed since a video showing Miley Cyrus taking a shot of it from a bong was posted on the web on Friday, December 10.
Sale of the drug, a hallucinogen derived from a Mexican herb, is legal in California, but banned in 15 other states. Dealers in some areas have reported that sales have trippled since Friday.
Much of the increased sales are on account of new users who are flocking to dealers and asking for "the stuff Miley was smoking."
One reason why Salvia has not been banned in all states – animal studies have indicated that the use of the durg is unpleasant enough to make it non addictive.
"Salvia is one of those things that you only try once because it is so intense," one smoke shop employee told TMZ.
