There’ll be a few familiar faces missing in action when wildchild-turned-reformed socialite Nicole Richie marries her boyfriend of four years, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, in Beverly Hills this weekend.
Most notably, Nicole’s childhood pal and former Simple Life co-star, Paris Hilton.
Hilton has been unceremoniously left off the guest list for Saturday’s ceremony at the estate of Nicole’s crooner dad, Lionel Richie, squealing snoops tell The New York Post’s Page Six Column. The frenemies were once two of the most hellraising, cocaine-snorting party girls to invade the Hollywood club scene. (Insert Valley Girl Accent Here…) They were totally, like, best friends for years. But waning fame for Hilton and double motherhood for Richie have worn heavy on the once solid friendship. Nicole just can’t be bothered to make room for her fame-hungry former friend at what she hopes will be an intimate ceremony, well-placed tipsters tattle.

We can’t say we’re surprised. After appearing on The Simple Life together for a few seasons, it all came crashing down for Paris and Nicole. Rumors cited that Nicole apparently gathered friends together to watch Paris’ infamous sex tape, but skeptics claimed it was because Nicole had lost loads of weight, hired stylist Rachel Zoe, and was overshadowing Paris in the media. (Kinda like she’s doing now…) The heiress even released an official statement revealing that the two were no longer BFFs:
“It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends. Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.”
After “breaking up” for a couple of years and throwing around jibes behind each others’ backs, the pair made up.
Or so we thought.
For her part, Nicole doesn’t seem too broken up at the prospect of not having her oldest friend in the house as she ties the knot. She’s too busy exercising!
Nicole — who has two-year-old daughter Harlow and 14-month-old son Sparrow with Madden — has been getting in shape for her big day with a series of grueling Bridal Boot Camp fitness classes. The waify bride-to-be is determined to look healthy but stunning when she walks down the aisle in a Marchesa dress. Although details of the ceremony are scarce, insiders say Little Harlow will serve as a flower girl as her parents wed and Richie pals Samantha Ronson and Christina Aguilera will be in attendance. In fact, Christina — who is in the early stages of a divorce from hubby Jordan Bratman — is expected to perform a song for the bride and groom.
