Demi Lovato reportedly called her cancer stricken father, Patrick Lovato, from her treatment center this week.
Patrick, a former musician and an engineer, separated from Demi's mother, Dianna, in 1994.
He was diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago and reportedly hasn't met Demi since then.
Patrick tells Radar Online that Demi called him this week to speak about his cancer.
"She told me she loved me, she really loves her daddy," Patrick said.
"She told me she's getting better."
According to Patrick, Demi also discussed with him the death of her close friend, David Osborn, in late July in a tubing accident.
According to Star magazine, 21-year-old aspiring rock star Osborn was Demi's secret love. He died in a tubing accident on the Brazos River.
Late in October, Lovato quit the Jonas Brothers world tour, for which she was the opening act, and checked into a treatment center.
She is reportedly seeking treatment for "emotional and physical issues.
