Leonardo DiCaprio will star in 'Legacy of Secrecy,' a screen adaption of a book on the assassination of John F Kennedy.
DiCaprio's production company, Appian Way Productions, will produce the film.
Warner Bros. is planning to release the film in 2013, the 50th anniversay of JFK's assassination.
The book - Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination - is written by historian and author Lamar Waldron and is based on classified documents released in 2006 by the US National Archives.
DiCaprio will play Jack Van Laningham, an FBI agent to whom Mafia boss Carlos Marcello confessed to having ordered JFK's assasination.
DiCaprio, winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Aviator (2004), will be next seen in Clint Eastwood-directed "Hoover," a biopic about the controversial FBI director.
