Imitates Life at Casa de Lohan! Stage mom Dina Lohan is producing a cinema drama about a group of young heroin addicts, and she’s cast her oldest son in the starring role, Hollywood informants with Heat Magazine have learned.
Michael Lohan Jr., the younger brother of repeat rehabber and recovering addict Lindsay Lohan, will play a doper in a project called Growing Defiant, which is being backed by mom Dina’s Defiant Pictures. The film will center on three lifelong friends from upper middle class Long Island, who have delved into the underworld of illegal drug use.
“We at Defiant Pictures are beyond excited about Growing Defiant, it is a remarkable anti drug, right of passage, intense crime drama,” according to Defiant Pictures co-producer and partner Ethan Terra. “Michael Cameron Lohan has that rare quality of being a great actor, deeply appealing, and perfect for the part.”
Michael Jr. — a recent business school grad — has blamed “leeches” for turning his starlet sis into a cocaine addict:
“I think that in the past, her vision
has been blurred. People she was surrounded by – enablers, leeches, whatever you’d like to call it – made things very difficult,” he told PEOPLE in September.
“It’s quite strenuous to right your wrongs when the people around you help justify your actions. Therefore, cloudy judgment made it easy for her to neglect those trying to guide her.”
The company is still “in negotiations with several A-list actors” to fill the other roles. They are also on the hunt for a director.
Filming on Growing Defiant is expected to begin in early 2011
