Priyanka Chopra, Saif Ali Khan starring 2 States in Limbo

2 States headlining Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka Chopra, a screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's similarly titled novel, may prove to be non-starter.

Mumbai Mirror reports that the project will likely be shelved after a meeting between Saif , producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Siddharth Anand at the star's residence ended in a dead lock.

Saif wants out of this film, though he was the one who motivated Anand to make the film based on Bhagat's novel in the first place.

Last month there were reports that Nadiadwala was having reservations about the project because he wasn't sure he had the bandwidth to steer it.

Sajid already has four biggies lined up next year - Kick with Salman Khan, Sajid Khan's House Full 2, Sabbir Khan's Heer Ranjha and Imtiaz Ali's next (probably with Hrithik Roshan) – and is keen to wrap them before taking up Anand's next.

Acknowledging that the project is currently in a limbo, Anand told Mumbai Mirror, "Right now, everything is up in the air. We are trying to figure it out. It was never concrete even earlier."

"Kisika pucca nahin hai. We may drop the idea altogether. Agar screenplay crack hota hai, only then. I will see how excited I am at that point of time and then take a call. After that, Saif shall decide," Anand added.
