Jessica Simpson's singing and film career have receded to Plan B status with the success of her fashion range, retail sales for which totaled a whopping $750 million this year.
Simpson fashion line already includes shoes, lingerie, accessories (sunglasses and bags), denim, swimwear, fashion watches and fragrances.
Her own occasional Mommy jeans attires may make good tabloid fodder but she is looked up as a fashion icon by many Americans.
The main licensee for Simpson-branded merchandise is Camuto Group, whose founder and CEO, Vince Camuto, tells WWD, "People like her. People look at her as a style icon."
Jessica will launch a contemporary sportswear line in the fall of 2011 that will include jackets, woven and knit bottoms, as well as tops and dresses. Items will be priced between $39 and $129.
"This new sportswear line reflects my evolving style, which combines comfort, femininity and flirty fun," Jessica said in a statement.
Jessica Simpson announced her engagement to former NFL player Eric Johnson on November 14. The couple had been dating since May.
Jessica has scored in love and fashion.
