It’s hard to keep a new baby secret when your last name is Kidman, but Oscar winner Nicole and husband Keith Urban managed just that with second daughter, Faith Margaret. Born with the help of a surrogate mother, Faith’s arrival was kept under wraps to protect her from media attention.
Nicole has said that keeping quiet about Faith was one of the toughest things she has ever had to do, and the couple thanked everyone for their support, “our gestational carrier” in particular.
Also parents to 2-year-old Sunday Rose, the couple reveals that Faith Margaret’s name was inspired by their adopted hometown Nashville, the nerve centre of American country music. The Southern town has a long tradition of double names, and Margaret was the name of Nicole’s grandmother.
Nicole credited her first daughter’s unexpected appearance to swimming in the waters of a small Australian Outback town during the filming of “Australia.” She and six other women became pregnant after swimming in Kununurra.
