Will the third time be the marriage charm for double divorcee Jodie Sweetin, perhaps best remembered as television’s Stephanie Tanner?
The ex-child star — who has battled meth addiction and two ugly divorces since leaving her breakout role in the ’80s/’90s sitcom Full House in 1995 — has announced her engagement to mixmaster DJ Morty Coyle, the father of her five-month-old daughter, Beatrix.
Coyle popped the question at Sweetin’s 29th birthday party on Monday, presenting the blonde with a a 2½-carat oval sapphire, surrounded by 18 diamonds in the shape of a snowflake.
“It was a complete surprise,” Sweetin told PEOPLE. “We are just thrilled and I am in shock still!”
She added: “People videotaped it, it was great. My friend decorated the whole place with little diamonds on the table and other touches.”
Sweetin, 28, also has a two-year-old daughter, Zoie, with ex-husband Cody Herpin. Sweetin and Herpin finalized their divorce las April after separating nearly two years before. In her memoir UnSweetined, Jodie described nearly losing custody of Zoie because of her addiction to alcohol and crystal methamphetamine.
